Exhaust System

As there are no NOS or real after market silencers available, we urgently search for Atlas owners having replaced their exhaust pipes by individual construction and are willing to report their experience on LAOR.

• Exhaust pipes side modification

  The pipes from the first series pass directly under the carebutor (from the right to the left side), thus heating up the Dell Orto. So Atlas riders sometimes go for the third series exhaust pipes:
  • New stock exhaust pipes 3rd series are available from Orange Cycle Team (OCT) in Germany.
  • Pascale from the LCF cut and rewelded the collector.

    

• Malcolm Cox silencers and pipes

  Malcolm Cox (in collaboration with our friend Nick) started remanufacturing of high quality inox (black chromed) downpipes and collectors in 2016.

  He also started the rebuild of the original silencers (1:1 copy) end of 2016 and is actually collecting orders. All parts are stamped with the original serial (homologation) numbers. Pricing depends of number of orders for one build batch (the more orders, the less expensive)

  • Atlas series 3 (MK3) downpipes are blank inox or black chromed (compared to a pair of rusty old pipes...)
    Collector is double galvanized (inner and outer)
    Heat shield is powder coated
    All parts are interchangeable with the original 3rd series parts. The complete 3rd series line fits to 1st/2nd series Atlas

• Star Twin silencer and pipes

  (Thanks to Robert from Netherlands for this advice)

  Star Twin Motors (NL) build Atlas silencers on demand and also stainliess steel exhaust pipes:

• KTM LC-4 600 original exhaust

  The exhauts from the first series KLM LC4 600 (kick start version, no secondary damper!!) should fit well the Atlas. The (leftside) damper fits the rear frame, and the KTM and Atlas pipes are identical (inner diameter 40mm, outer diameter 45mm).

• Laser Produro for KTM LC-4 600 (and DR650, XT600 ??)

  The Laser Produro exhaust for the first series KLM LC4 600 (kick start version, no secondary damper!!) fits nearly plug&play. The Produro silencer is exacly the same for various motorcycles: KTM LC4, XT 600, Africa Twin, DR 650, KLR 650, etc., the model specific fittment is only made via different pipe connectors.
  Note 1: only the KTM damper has the manufacturer plate on the left side.
  Note 2: Produro for DR-650 and KLR will probably also fit, but would need some more work to connect to the Atlas pipes.

  Mounting: Unbolt old exhaust, battery and batteryholder Fit the Laser damper to the Atlas frame mounts Cut the LC4-pipe: cut it mm-wise and check it each time to the Atlas pipe until it fits perfectly (see left photo) Fix the LC4-pipe-artifact to the damper using the springs Install the whole thing using the tube connector. Ready! (photo on the right) Adjust the carburator if necessary
